We believe that all things begin and end with the Word of God. We believe that living and working by His principles with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as our example is operating in true excellence. This is our foundation and the higher standard by which we at Building Blocks Child Care & Building Blocks Academy & Daycare function.
We believe children learn best by doing and should be given the opportunity to explore and make choices in an environment designed with their needs in mind. This type of environment would provide the age-appropriate materials necessary to challenge each child and build on what they already know. We also serve as examples to the children, since children learn as much by observing others as they do by direct instruction. Our teaching staff creates an atmosphere of love and support and serves mainly as facilitators rather than the directors of activities.
Our goal is to provide children with a caring, safe, and secure environment that utilizes a child centered curriculum. This type of curriculum would focus on the total child by taking into account their emotional, physical, social, and cognitive needs. Because children grow and develop at different rates, this approach offers them the opportunity to explore each area of development at their own pace. It is important to us that the experiences be meaningful and relevant to each child's life. We believe that building strong ties between home and daycare will help to optimize each experience.

Educational Philosophy and Curriculum
PLAY-BASED & TEACHER DIRECTED PROGRAM
The children at Building Blocks enjoy a curriculum based on developmental appropriateness. This
- As your child grows and changes, we use curriculum guidelines for what activities are appropriate for each age and stage of development.
- Knowledge of typical development of children within each age span provides a framework from
which our teachers prepare the learning environment and plan specific experiences.
- Children’s play is a primary vehicle for and an indicator of their development. Therefore, child
initiated, child directed, and teacher supported play is an essential component of our program.
- In the preschool and older programs, academics are presented in a relaxed and enriching
manner. From math to language arts, wide ranges of subjects are presented.
- Multi-cultural/anti-bias awareness is also part of our curriculum.
